What Does MCG Actually Measure?

Perhaps your body's most important muscle, your heart is powered by a sequence of carefully orchestrated electrical impulses which cause it to pump and deliver blood to and through the rest of your body. This electrical activity produces a corresponding magnetic field, which MCG aims to detect and measure.

When trying to assess the electrical health of the heart, measuring this magnetic field offers several key advantages, one of which is that the magnetic signal is far more information-rich and less prone to potential interference than the electrical signal.

Electrical abnormalities can be one of the earliest signs of a deteriorating condition.

This often occurs far earlier than the presence of noticeable symptoms. In fact, plenty of research has shown that traditional "symptoms" of heart disease can actually be associated with the later stages of disease progression.

Researchers and scientists believe that MCG's unique sensitivity may offer the ability to detect even the smallest changes in the heart's electrical activity that may signal potential cardiac dysfunction without many of the traditional drawbacks of other forms of cardiac testing.
